How to Take Your SEO to the Next Level

How to Take Your SEO to the Next Level

By Sté Kerwer to SEO

SEO. Search Engine Optimization. When most bloggers think of SEO they think about keywords, meta tags, and blog formatting and structure. But there’s much more to it than that. If you’re ready to take your business to the next level, then it’s time to take your SEO to the next level, too.

Content Marketing Is A Must

Your online content plays a huge role in your business, but I’m talking about much more than blog posts. If you could draw a map of the Internet and locate your blog, it would look like a tiny little pin prick on a map of the world. The Internet is huge and it’s filled with billions of blogs and websites. To be successful, you can’t wait for people to find you because most never will. You have to move your marketing efforts outside your website.

This is where most online businesses falter. Not only do you need to create high-quality content for your blog on a daily basis, you also need to submit guest blog posts, create videos and submit them to video sharing sites, write articles and submit them to article directories, content sites and industry websites, and create infographics, white-papers, free guides and ebooks.

All of this content creation is a necessary part of your SEO if you want to move up to the next level, but it’s extremely time-consuming. Every bit of content you create must be unique, informative and of the highest possible quality. It’s easy to see why so many businesses, once they get to this level, decide to outsource the content and go in search of talented writers who understand SEO.

Engage In The Social Networks

Social media marketing is no longer just an option, it’s a must. The search engines use social media signals such as Tweets and Shares to gauge your website’s level of trust. The most important social sites are Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google+, so if you haven’t started yet, choose at least two of those four and get busy.

It’s not enough to just set up an account and hope for the best. You have to actively engage your followers. That doesn’t mean you have to monitor your Twitter account 24 hours a day, but it does mean you have to consistently participate, even if it’s just a few minutes each day.

Again, it’s the quality of your interactions that matters most, and that generally involves a larger investment of time, so this is another task that businesses will typically outsource.

Start Networking

When you’re ready to take your business to the next level, networking also takes on a new meaning. Instead of just networking with other bloggers who can help share your content or retweet your Tweets, now you need to be looking for a variety of contacts that can help you in all areas of your business.

For example, I’ve made some strong contacts at a couple of industry websites and now, whenever I submit a guest blog post it’s automatically accepted and goes to the top of the queue. I have a contact who owns a popular press release site and my press releases are automatically accepted.

Look at every facet of your business and each task you perform and know that to take your business to the next level you’re going to have to take each of those tasks to the next level, too. And the most important task of all is SEO.
